The System of the 7 Planes of Human Existence in Theosophy: The Physical, Astral, Etheric, Mental, Causal, Buddhic, and Atmic Body

Surely, many of you are aware that the human being is not composed solely of the physical dimension, consciousness, and subconsciousness, as is commonly accepted within the perception of Western civilization. In essence, our existence extends across seven levels (although some add more or name them slightly differently, emphasizing other aspects, such as the emotional body, which is not included here); these are the so-called Planes of Existence, which remain under the influence of the most varied forces. In today's article, you will become familiar with the seven Planes of Being and their characteristics.

 

The Theory of the Seven Planes of Existence, as a coherent and detailed system, was largely created and refined within the Theosophical Society during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Although the idea of planes itself has its roots in ancient Vedic philosophy, in the traditions of Indian yogis (especially in the concept of the koshas – the five sheaths) and even in the Kabbalah, the systematic scheme of the seven levels, known today in the West, was modeled by Theosophical leaders such as Helena Blavatsky, Annie Besant, and Charles W. Leadbeater. They organized the esoteric knowledge of the East and the West, creating a detailed hierarchy of the evolution of the Self and human consciousness, which has become a pillar of contemporary Western esotericism and the New Age movement.

 

1. The Physical Body and the Physical Plane

 

In Theosophy, the Physical Plane is the densest and most easily perceptible level of Existence, encompassing the entire material universe. Its existence is made possible by the Etheric Plane, which acts as a more subtle and immaterial energetic template, sustaining the physical form and life. This Plane includes all matter – from solids, through liquids, to gases – and is governed by the laws of nature studied by modern physics. It is precisely at this level that Consciousness experiences itself through the dense physical body, which serves as an instrument for learning, action, and sensation in three-dimensional space and linear time. The actual Physical Plane is theosophically divided into seven sub-levels, four of which are visible (solid, liquid, gaseous) and the remaining three (the etheric) are invisible but crucial for life.

 

This level, in the Theosophical scheme of evolution, is chosen as the sphere of greatest limitation, which simultaneously means the greatest opportunity for growth. Through successive incarnations on the Physical Plane, the individual soul (the Ego) gains experience, developing the will, fulfilling karma, and accumulating knowledge. The Physical Plane is not merely an illusion, but a real basis where the individual must confront the results of action and consequence (the Karma). This level is fundamental because only here, through the interaction of the physical body with the external world, can the soul exert a tangible influence and achieve specific stages of spiritual evolution that would be impossible on subtler, higher planes.

 

The Physical Plane is closely related to the Etheric Body (or Etheric Double), which is the immaterial "twin" of the physical body and belongs to the physical level. The Etheric Body is responsible for the absorption and distribution of vital energy (Prana) from the cosmos to the entire physical body, ensuring the flow of energy and physical health. Through this etheric body, the Physical Plane also connects with the Astral Plane (of the emotions), allowing emotions and thoughts to influence physical health and well-being. Therefore, although the Physical Plane is the densest, it is an immensely important and key element in the cycle of the individual soul's experiences.

 

2. The Etheric Body and the Etheric Plane

 

The Etheric Plane (or Etheric Double), in Theosophy and related esoteric schools, is the most subtle sub-level of the Physical Plane, acting as a bridge between dense matter and the higher, more subtle spheres. It does not exist separately but permeates and surrounds all physical matter, serving as its energetic matrix, or "double." This Plane is composed of etheric matter, subtler than gas, but still belonging to the physical universe. Its most important function is the absorption and distribution of vital energy (Prana) from the cosmos to the entire physical body. The Etheric Plane is responsible for vitality, cell regeneration, and physical health, and its disturbances or lack of energy manifest directly as physical illnesses.

 

The Etheric Plane acts as an intermediary in energy transfer. It transmits impulses from the Astral (emotional) and Mental (mind) Planes to the physical body, and also conveys physical sensations to the higher planes. It is precisely the properties of the Etheric Body (or etheric sheath) that enable conscious existence and life in physical form. At this level, the chakra system exists – the main energy centers that function as "vortices" through which Prana enters and is distributed throughout the body. The Etheric Plane is directly related to all physical sensations, which is why in esoteric practice, its strengthening and purification are crucial for better health and for supporting spiritual growth.

 

Although the Etheric Plane is generally invisible to the naked eye, it is sometimes called the aura of health and can be perceived by exceptionally developed sight. The vibrations of etheric matter are closely related to physical time and space; the Etheric Plane acts as a mechanism that materializes karmic causes (arising on the higher Causal Plane) into physical manifestation. Certain parapsychological phenomena are also attributed to it, such as etheric projection (or travel in the Etheric Body), although the Etheric Body itself disintegrates relatively quickly after physical death, unlike the higher sheaths of the soul. Thus, it is an inseparable and vitally important part of physical existence.

 

3. The Astral Plane and the Astral Body

 

The Astral Plane, known in esoteric cosmology as the Plane of Emotions or the Plane of Desire, is the second most subtle level of Being, situated between the Etheric and Mental Planes. This sphere is the domain of all emotions, passions, desires, and strong longings, permeating the physical world. For this reason, it is considered a rather chaotic level that is easily mistaken for reality, as the emotional energies here are very intense and capable of creating impressive, but illusory, visions and experiences. It is precisely on the Astral Plane that most dreams and visions occur, and its vibrations are closely related to human senses and momentary reactions to the environment.

 

The expression of human consciousness at this level is the Astral Body (or Emotional Sheath). This body is directly responsible for the entire emotional nature of the human being, including both destructive emotions (fear, anger, jealousy) and positive ones still related to attachment (personal love, joy). After physical death, the soul goes to the Astral Plane, where emotional purification takes place, called the second stage of death. In this process, worldly desires and passions are left behind in the Astral matter, so that the soul, becoming lighter, can continue ascending to the quieter and spiritually higher Mental and Causal Planes.

 

Due to its vibratory nature, the Astral Plane serves as a level of transmission, through which thought-forms from the Mental Plane acquire an emotional charge, which is then conveyed to the physical body through the Etheric Plane. Astral Projection is the phenomenon where consciousness, along with the Astral Body, temporarily leaves the physical body to travel in this world of emotions. It should be noted that the matter of the Astral Plane is not eternal; the emotional sheath is created for each incarnation and disintegrates after some time following physical death, once its work of purification from emotional attachments has been completed.

 

4. The Mental Plane and the Mental Body

 

The Mental Plane, according to Theosophical cosmology, is the third subtle level, situated above the Physical and Astral Planes, acting as the sphere of the mind and ideas. It is the dimension of thought substance, which permeates the physical world and is responsible for all intellectual processes – logic, analysis, planning, learning, and memory. It is considerably subtler than the astral sphere that governs emotions, and is related to both concrete and abstract thoughts. Given its nature, it is traditionally divided into two sub-levels: the lower mental level, where the everyday, logical mind operates, and the higher level, often called the Causal Plane, where higher, more abstract ideas related to the soul's karmic heritage are processed.

 

The human equivalent at this level is the Mental Body (or sheath), which functions as a generator of thoughts and a thinking tool. It is precisely the Mental Body that enables us to create complex thought-forms and systematize accumulated knowledge. It is continuously active and, especially at the lower level, is closely linked to the emotional Astral Body, which is why everyday thinking is often colored by emotions and desires. During the soul's evolution, the aim is to purify this body by ascending to the higher, Causal level. This transformation allows detachment from personal and egoistic ideas, and instead, the attainment of objective, universal knowledge and abstract, pure truths.

 

The Mental Plane is a key mechanism in the process of evolution, because through it, the soul processes its experiences and is able to make conscious choices that subsequently determine karma. Unlike the emotions of the Astral Plane, which can be chaotic, the energy of the Mental Plane is more ordered and directed, creating the foundation for spiritual development. The Higher Mental Plane, which functions as the soul's "treasury" (the Causal Body), stores all the accumulated wisdom and lessons from many incarnations. Thus, this level marks the peak of individual intellect and is a bridge to pure Intuition and the Buddhic Plane.

 

5. The Causal Plane and the Causal Body

 

The Causal Plane, in Theosophical and esoteric cosmology, is the fourth – and the first truly spiritual – level of being, often described as the Higher Mental Plane. This sphere, named after the word Causa (cause), is the dwelling place of the real individual soul (the Ego), which endures throughout the entire cycle of reincarnation. It is precisely at this level that all karmic records are stored – that is, the seeds and causes of all experiences that the soul will have to undergo in the future on the lower levels. The Causal Plane is much subtler than the emotional (astral) and logical (lower mental) planes, and its function is to process universal, abstract truths, and intuitive insights that are independent of the variability of the material world or personal emotions.

 

The equivalent of human consciousness at this level is the Causal Body. It is the immortal sheath of the soul, which becomes increasingly radiant and developed as the soul progresses on the path of evolution. Unlike the lower sheaths (physical, etheric, astral, and lower mental), which disintegrate after each physical death, the Causal Body remains. It acts as a "principle of the spiritual seed" or a record of individuality, gathering all the positive qualities, love, wisdom, and spiritual lessons acquired over many lifetimes.

 

Upon reaching this level through deep meditation or spiritual work, the individual experiences the feeling of true internal identity, perceiving themselves not as a mortal personality, but as an evolving soul participating in the great evolutionary process. The Causal Body serves as a means of transmission that transfers the will and purposes of the Higher Planes (Buddhic, Atmic) to the Mental Plane and below. It is a key tool of evolution, whose ultimate goal is to become a vessel of light, the complete purification of karma, and the union with an even higher sphere of being, the Buddhic (Intuitional).

 

6. The Buddhic Plane and the Buddhic Body

 

The Buddhic Plane, also known as the Plane of Intuition, is the fifth level in terms of subtlety in Theosophical cosmology, situated above the Causal (Higher Mental) Plane. This Plane represents pure intuition, spiritual wisdom, and universal love, transcending any logical thinking or emotional attachments. It is the sphere where the soul begins to grasp the essential unity of all forms of life and the integrity of all existence, and the differences that seem so tangible on the lower planes disappear completely. The Buddhic Plane is a direct bridge to the highest Spiritual Being and is one of those states of consciousness where the manifestation of Divinity can be experienced.

 

The human equivalent at this level is the Buddhic Body. It is extremely subtle, radiant, and undefinable. The Buddhic Body is the element of the spiritual sheath that allows the soul to experience the highest bliss (Ananda) and pure, unconditional love. It is the soul liberated from the limitations of the ego, where individuality (the Causal level) merges with universality. The Buddhic Body acts as a receiver of intuition, capable of perceiving the Truth instantaneously without the thinking process required on the Mental Plane.

 

In the course of spiritual evolution, a fully developed Buddhic Body symbolizes the achievement of discernment and the fullness of wisdom, allowing the soul to guide others. When the soul completely unites the Causal and Buddhic Planes, it becomes known as the Monad, the manifestation of the Divine Spirit. The full achievement of the Buddhic Body signifies liberation (Moksha) from the cycle of reincarnation. Although this level is practically unattainable for the average person, it is the ultimate goal of the Spiritual Journey, destined for all who aspire to unity with the Divine Consciousness.

 

7. The Atmic Plane and the Atmic Body

 

The Atmic Plane, also called the Plane of Spirit, is the sixth, exceptionally subtle and high level in the Theosophical hierarchy, situated directly above the Buddhic (Intuition) Plane. This level represents the Divine Will and the supreme Spirit (Atman) – the individualized spark of Divinity that is the essence of every living being. The Atmic Plane is eternal and immutable, reflecting the absolute calmness of Being and pure, non-dual consciousness.

 

At this level, the individual aspect, the Atmic Body, is the purest manifestation of spiritual will and power. It is not a body in the traditional sense, but rather a sheath of pure Spirit, intended to express the Divine will and purpose. When the soul completely merges with the Buddhic Plane, it attains the properties of the Atmic Plane: absolute freedom and Divine independence from the limitations of the lower levels. The Atmic Body, acting in combination with the Buddhic Body, creates the Monad, the immortal Triad of Spirit-Soul, which is the true identity of man.

 

The Atmic Plane is the final level of individual development, before the transition to the Plane of the Logos (Monadic), the level of universal Being. Spiritual evolution reaches its peak when consciousness fully masters the Atmic Plane, becoming an active support of the Divine Will in the universe. At this level, there is no longer a personal will, but only the realization of the Divine Purpose. This is the supreme state that individual consciousness can achieve in the cycle of incarnations.

Seguramente muchos de ustedes son conscientes de que el ser humano no se compone únicamente de la dimensión física, la conciencia y el subconsciente, como se acepta comúnmente a nivel de la percepción de la civilización occidental. De hecho, nuestra existencia se extiende a lo largo de siete niveles (aunque algunos añaden más o los nombran de manera ligeramente diferente, acentuando otros aspectos, como el cuerpo emocional, que no se incluye aquí); estos son los llamados Planos de Existencia, que permanecen bajo la influencia de las fuerzas más variadas. En el artículo de hoy se familiarizarán con los siete Planos del Ser y sus características.

 

La Teoría de los Siete Planos de Existencia, como sistema coherente y detallado, fue en gran medida creada y perfeccionada en la Sociedad Teosófica entre los siglos XIX y XX. Aunque la idea misma de los planos tiene sus raíces en la antigua filosofía védica, en las tradiciones de los yoguis indios (especialmente en el concepto de kosha – los cinco envolturas) e incluso en la Cábala, el esquema sistemático de los siete niveles, conocido hoy en Occidente, fue modelado por líderes de la Teosofía como Helena Blavatsky, Annie Besant y Charles W. 1. El Cuerpo Físico y el Plano Físico

 

En la Teosofía, el Plano Físico es el nivel de Existencia más denso y más fácil de percibir, abarcando todo el universo material. Su existencia es posibilitada por el Plano Etérico, que actúa como una plantilla energética más sutil e inmaterial, que sostiene la forma física y la vida. Este Plano incluye toda la materia —desde los cuerpos sólidos, pasando por los líquidos, hasta los gases— y está regido por las leyes de la naturaleza estudiadas por la física moderna. Es precisamente en este nivel donde la Conciencia se experimenta a sí misma a través del denso cuerpo físico, el cual sirve como instrumento para el aprendizaje, la acción y la sensación en el espacio tridimensional y el tiempo lineal. El Plano Físico real se divide teosóficamente en siete sub-niveles, de los cuales cuatro son visibles (sólido, líquido, gaseoso) y los tres restantes (etéricos) son invisibles, pero cruciales para la vida.

 

Este nivel, en el esquema teosófico de la evolución, es elegido como la esfera de mayor limitación, lo que a su vez significa la mayor oportunidad de crecimiento. A través de sucesivas encarnaciones en el Plano Físico, el alma individual (el Ego) adquiere experiencia, desarrollando la voluntad, cumpliendo el karma y acumulando conocimiento. El Plano Físico no es simplemente una ilusión, sino una base real en la que el individuo debe enfrentarse a los resultados de la acción y la consecuencia (el Karma). Este nivel es fundamental, ya que solo aquí, a través de la interacción del cuerpo físico con el mundo exterior, el alma puede ejercer una influencia tangible y alcanzar determinadas etapas de evolución espiritual que serían imposibles en planos más sutiles y superiores.

 

El Plano Físico está estrechamente relacionado con el Cuerpo Etérico (Doble Etérico), que es el «gemelo» inmaterial del cuerpo físico y pertenece al nivel físico. El Cuerpo Etérico es responsable de la absorción y distribución de la energía vital (Prana) del cosmos a todo el cuerpo físico, asegurando el flujo de energía y la salud física. A través de este cuerpo etérico, el Plano Físico también se conecta con el Plano Astral (de las emociones), permitiendo que las emociones y los pensamientos influyan en la salud física y el bienestar. Por lo tanto, aunque el Plano Físico es el más denso, es un elemento inmensamente importante y clave en el ciclo de experiencias del alma individual.

 

2. El Cuerpo Etérico y el Plano Etérico

 

El Plano Etérico (ingl. The Etheric Plane o Etheric Double), en la Teosofía y escuelas esotéricas afines, es el sub-nivel más sutil del Plano Físico, actuando como un puente entre la materia densa y las esferas superiores y más sutiles. No existe por separado, sino que penetra y rodea toda la materia física, sirviendo como su matriz energética, es decir, su «gemelo». Este Plano se compone de materia etérica, más sutil que el gas, pero aún adscrita al universo físico. Su función más importante es la absorción y distribución de la energía vital (Prana) del cosmos a todo el cuerpo físico. El Plano Etérico responde por la vitalidad, la regeneración celular y la salud física, y sus perturbaciones o la falta de energía se manifiestan directamente como enfermedades físicas.

 

El Plano Etérico actúa como intermediario en la transferencia de energía. Transmite impulsos del plano astral (emocional) y mental (de la mente) al cuerpo físico, y también transmite las sensaciones físicas a los planos superiores. Son precisamente las propiedades del Cuerpo Etérico (o envoltura etérica) las que posibilitan la existencia consciente y la vida en forma física. En este nivel existe el sistema de chakras – los principales centros energéticos que funcionan como «vórtices» a través de los cuales el Prana penetra en el cuerpo y se distribuye. El Plano Etérico está directamente relacionado con todas las sensaciones físicas, por lo que, en la práctica esotérica, su fortalecimiento y purificación son cruciales para una mejor salud y para apoyar el crecimiento espiritual.

 

Aunque el Plano Etérico es generalmente invisible a simple vista, a veces se le llama aura de la salud y puede ser percibido por una visión excepcionalmente desarrollada. Las vibraciones de la materia etérica están estrechamente relacionadas con el tiempo y el espacio físicos; el Plano Etérico actúa como un mecanismo que materializa las causas kármicas (que surgen en el Plano Causal superior) en la manifestación física. También se le atribuyen ciertos fenómenos parapsicológicos, como la proyección etérica (o los viajes en el Cuerpo Etérico), aunque el Cuerpo Etérico en sí se descompone relativamente rápido después de la muerte física, a diferencia de las envolturas superiores del alma. Por lo tanto, es una parte inseparable y vitalmente importante de la existencia física.

 

3. El Plano Astral y el Cuerpo Astral

 

El Plano Astral (ingl. Astral Plane), conocido en la cosmología esotérica como el Plano de las Emociones o el Plano de los Deseos, es el segundo nivel de Ser más sutil, situado entre el Plano Etérico y el Mental. Esta esfera es el dominio de todas las emociones, pasiones, deseos y anhelos fuertes, que impregnan el mundo físico. Por esta razón, se considera un nivel bastante caótico que es fácil de confundir con la realidad, ya que las energías emocionales son muy intensas aquí y capaces de crear visiones y experiencias impresionantes, pero ilusorias. Es precisamente en el Plano Astral donde ocurre la mayoría de los sueños y visiones, y sus vibraciones están estrechamente relacionadas con los sentidos humanos y las reacciones momentáneas al entorno.

 

La expresión de la conciencia humana en este nivel es el Cuerpo Astral (o Envoltura Emocional). Este cuerpo es directamente responsable de toda la naturaleza emocional del ser humano, incluyendo tanto las emociones destructivas (miedo, ira, celos) como las positivas, pero aún relacionadas con el apego (amor personal, alegría). Tras la muerte física, el alma llega al Plano Astral, donde tiene lugar la purificación emocional, denominada segunda etapa de la muerte. En este proceso, los deseos y pasiones mundanas son abandonados en la materia Astral, para que el alma, al volverse más ligera, pueda continuar ascendiendo a los Planos Mental y Causal, más tranquilos y espiritualmente superiores.

 

Debido a su naturaleza vibratoria, el Plano Astral sirve como un nivel de transmisión, a través del cual las formas de pensamiento del Plano Mental adquieren una carga emocional, que luego es transmitida al cuerpo físico a través del Plano Etérico. La Proyección Astral es el fenómeno en el que la conciencia, junto con el Cuerpo Astral, abandona temporalmente el cuerpo físico para viajar en este mundo de emociones. Cabe señalar que la materia del Plano Astral no es eterna; la envoltura emocional se crea para cada encarnación y se descompone después de un tiempo tras la muerte física, una vez que ha concluido su trabajo de purificación de los apegos emocionales.

 

4. El Plano Mental y el Cuerpo Mental

 

El Plano Mental, según la cosmología teosófica, es el tercer nivel sutil, situado por encima de los Planos Físico y Astral, que actúa como la esfera de la mente y las ideas. Es la dimensión de la sustancia del pensamiento, que impregna el mundo físico y es responsable de todos los procesos intelectuales: la lógica, el análisis, la planificación, el aprendizaje y la memoria. Es considerablemente más sutil que la esfera astral que rige las emociones, y está relacionado tanto con los pensamientos concretos como con los abstractos. Dada su naturaleza, tradicionalmente se divide en dos sub-niveles: el nivel mental inferior, donde opera la mente cotidiana y lógica, y el nivel superior, a menudo llamado Plano Causal, donde se procesan las ideas más elevadas y abstractas, relacionadas con la herencia kármica del alma.

 

El equivalente humano en este nivel es el Cuerpo Mental (o envoltura), que funciona como un generador de pensamientos y una herramienta de pensamiento. Es precisamente el Cuerpo Mental el que nos permite crear formas de pensamiento complejas y sistematizar el conocimiento acumulado. Está continuamente activo y, especialmente en el nivel inferior, está estrechamente relacionado con el Cuerpo Astral emocional, por lo que el pensamiento cotidiano a menudo está teñido de emociones y deseos. Durante la evolución del alma, se busca la purificación de este cuerpo mediante la ascensión al nivel superior, Causal. Esta transformación permite desprenderse de las ideas personales y egoístas, y en su lugar alcanzar el conocimiento objetivo y universal y las verdades abstractas y puras.

 

El Plano Mental es un mecanismo clave en el proceso de evolución, ya que a través de él el alma procesa sus experiencias y es capaz de tomar decisiones conscientes que luego determinan el karma. A diferencia de las emociones del Plano Astral, que pueden ser caóticas, la energía del Plano Mental es más ordenada y dirigida, creando el fundamento para el desarrollo espiritual. El Plano Mental Superior, que funciona como el «tesoro» del alma (el Cuerpo Causal), almacena toda la sabiduría y las lecciones acumuladas de muchas encarnaciones. Por lo tanto, este nivel marca la cúspide del intelecto individual y es un puente hacia la Intuición pura y el Plano Búddhico.

 

5. El Plano Causal (o de las Causas) y el Cuerpo Causal

 

El Plano Causal (ingl. Causal Plane), en la cosmología teosófica y esotérica, es el cuarto – y el primer nivel verdaderamente espiritual – del ser, a menudo descrito como el Plano Mental Superior. Esta esfera, nombrada a partir de la palabra Causa, es la morada del alma individual real (el Ego), que perdura a través de todo el ciclo de reencarnación. Es precisamente en este nivel donde se almacenan todos los registros kármicos, es decir, las semillas y causas de todas las experiencias que el alma tendrá que vivir en el futuro en los niveles inferiores. El Plano Causal es mucho más sutil que los planos emocional (astral) y lógico (mental inferior), y su función es procesar verdades universales, abstractas, y conocimientos intuitivos que son independientes de la variabilidad del mundo material o de las emociones personales.

 

El equivalente de la conciencia humana en este nivel es el Cuerpo Causal (ingl. Causal Body). Es la envoltura inmortal del alma, que se vuelve cada vez más radiante y desarrollada a medida que el alma progresa en el camino de la evolución. A diferencia de las envolturas inferiores (física, etérica, astral y mental inferior), que se desintegran después de cada muerte física, el Cuerpo Causal permanece. Actúa como un «principio de semilla espiritual» o registro de la individualidad, reuniendo todas las cualidades positivas, el amor, la sabiduría y las lecciones espirituales adquiridas a lo largo de muchas vidas.

 

Al alcanzar este nivel a través de la meditación profunda o el trabajo espiritual, el individuo experimenta la sensación de la verdadera identidad interna, percibiéndose no como una personalidad mortal, sino como un alma en evolución que participa en el gran proceso evolutivo. El Cuerpo Causal sirve como un medio de transmisión que transfiere la voluntad y los propósitos de los Planos Superiores (Búddhico, Átmico) al Plano Mental e inferior. Es una herramienta clave de la evolución, cuyo objetivo final es convertirse en un vaso de luz, la purificación completa del karma y la unión con una esfera del ser aún más alta, la Búddhica (Intuitiva).

 

6. El Plano Búddhico y el Cuerpo Búddhico

 

El Plano Búddhico (ingl. Buddhi Plane), también conocido como Plano de la Intuición, es el quinto nivel en términos de sutileza en la cosmología teosófica, situado por encima del Plano Causal (Mental Superior). Este Plano representa la intuición pura, la sabiduría espiritual y el amor universal, que trascienden cualquier pensamiento lógico o apego emocional. Es la esfera en la que el alma comienza a comprender la unidad esencial de todas las formas de vida y la integridad de toda la existencia, y las diferencias que parecen tan tangibles en los planos inferiores desaparecen por completo. El Plano Búddhico es un puente directo hacia el Ser Espiritual más elevado y es uno de esos estados de conciencia en los que se puede experimentar la manifestación de la Divinidad.

 

El equivalente humano en este nivel es el Cuerpo Búddhico (ingl. Buddhic Body). Es extremadamente sutil, radiante e indefinido. El Cuerpo Búddhico es el elemento de la envoltura espiritual que permite al alma experimentar la más alta bienaventuranza (Ananda) y el amor puro e incondicional. Es el alma liberada de las limitaciones del ego, donde la individualidad (nivel Causal) se fusiona con la universalidad. El Cuerpo Búddhico actúa como un receptor de la intuición, capaz de percibir la Verdad instantáneamente sin el proceso de pensamiento requerido en el Plano Mental.

 

En el curso de la evolución espiritual, un Cuerpo Búddhico plenamente desarrollado simboliza el logro del discernimiento y la plenitud de la sabiduría, permitiendo al alma guiar a otros. Cuando el alma une completamente el Plano Causal y el Búddhico, se la conoce como la Mónada, la manifestación del Espíritu Divino. El logro completo del Cuerpo Búddhico significa la liberación (Moksha) del ciclo de reencarnación. Aunque este nivel es prácticamente inalcanzable para el ser humano promedio, es el objetivo final del Viaje espiritual, destinado a todos aquellos que aspiran a la unidad con la Conciencia Divina.

 

7. El Plano Átmico y el Cuerpo Átmico

 

El Plano Átmico (ingl. Atmic Plane), también llamado Plano del Espíritu, es el sexto nivel, excepcionalmente sutil y elevado en la jerarquía teosófica, situado directamente sobre el Plano Búddhico (de la Intuición). Este nivel representa la Voluntad Divina y el Espíritu supremo (Atman), la chispa individualizada de la Divinidad que es la esencia de cada ser vivo. El Plano Átmico es eterno e inmutable, reflejando la calma absoluta del Ser y la conciencia pura y no dualista.

 

En este nivel, el aspecto individual, el Cuerpo Átmico (ingl. Atmic Body), es la manifestación más pura de la voluntad y el poder espiritual. No es un cuerpo en el sentido tradicional, sino más bien una envoltura de Espíritu puro, destinada a expresar la voluntad y el propósito Divino. Cuando el alma se fusiona completamente con el Plano Búddhico, alcanza las propiedades del Plano Átmico: libertad absoluta e independencia Divina de las limitaciones de los niveles inferiores. El Cuerpo Átmico, actuando en combinación con el Cuerpo Búddhico, crea la Mónada, la Tríada inmortal de Espíritu-Alma, que es la verdadera identidad del ser humano.

 

El Plano Átmico es el nivel final del desarrollo individual, antes de la transición al Plano del Logos (Monádico), el nivel del Ser universal. La evolución espiritual alcanza su cúspide cuando la conciencia domina completamente el Plano Átmico, convirtiéndose en un apoyo activo de la Voluntad Divina en el universo. En este nivel ya no hay voluntad personal, sino solo la realización del Propósito Divino. Este es el estado supremo que la conciencia individual puede alcanzar en el ciclo de las encarnaciones.

Наверное, многие из вас осознают, что человек состоит не только из физического измерения, сознания и подсознания, как это принято считать на уровне восприятия западной цивилизации. На самом деле, наше существование простирается на семь уровней (хотя некоторые добавляют больше или называют их несколько иначе, акцентируя другие аспекты, например, эмоциональное тело, которое здесь не учтено) – это так называемые Планы Бытия (или Планы Существования), находящиеся под влиянием самых разнообразных сил. В сегодняшней статье вы познакомитесь со всеми семью Планами Бытия и их характеристиками.

 

Теория Семи Планов Существования, как стройная и подробная система, была в значительной степени создана и доработана в Теософском Обществе на рубеже XIX и XX веков. Хотя сама идея планов имеет свои корни в древней ведической философии, в традициях индийских йогов (особенно в концепции коша – пяти оболочек) и даже в Каббале, систематическая схема семи уровней, известная сегодня на Западе, была сформирована лидерами теософии, такими как Елена Блаватская, Анни Безант и Чарльз У. Ледбитер. Они упорядочили эзотерические знания Востока и Запада, создав детальную иерархию эволюции Бытия и человеческого сознания, которая стала столпом современной западной эзотерики и движения Нью-Эйдж.

 

1. Физическое Тело и Физический План

 

В теософии Физический План является самым плотным и наиболее легко воспринимаемым уровнем Существования, охватывающим всю материальную вселенную. Его существование делает возможным Эфирный План, который действует как более тонкий и нематериальный энергетический шаблон, поддерживающий физическую форму и жизнь. Этот План включает в себя всю материю – от твердых тел, через жидкости, до газов – и управляется законами природы, изучаемыми современной физикой. Именно на этом уровне Сознание переживает себя через плотное физическое тело, которое служит инструментом для обучения, действия и ощущения в трехмерном пространстве и линейном времени. Реальный Физический План теософически делится на семь подуровней, из которых четыре являются видимыми (твердые, жидкие, газообразные), а остальные три (эфирные) являются невидимыми, но ключевыми для жизни.

 

Этот уровень, в теософской схеме эволюции, выбран как сфера наибольшего ограничения, что одновременно означает и наибольшую возможность роста. Через последовательные инкарнации на Физическом Плане индивидуальная душа (Эго) приобретает опыт, развивая волю, реализуя карму и накапливая знания. Физический План – это не просто иллюзия, а реальная основа, в которой индивидуум должен столкнуться с результатами действия и следствий (Кармы). Этот уровень является фундаментальным, поскольку только здесь, через взаимодействие физического тела с внешним миром, душа может оказывать ощутимое влияние и достигать определенных этапов духовной эволюции, которые были бы невозможны на более тонких, высших планах.

 

Физический План тесно связан с Эфирным Телом, которое является нематериальным «близнецом» физического тела и принадлежит физическому уровню. Эфирное Тело отвечает за поглощение и распределение жизненной энергии (Праны) из космоса по всему физическому телу, обеспечивая поток энергии и здоровье физического тела. Через это эфирное тело Физический План также соединяется с Астральным Планом (эмоций), позволяя эмоциям и мыслям влиять на физическое здоровье и самочувствие. Таким образом, хотя Физический План является самым плотным, он остается чрезвычайно важным и ключевым элементом цикла опыта индивидуальной души.

 

2. Эфирное Тело и Эфирный План

 

Эфирный План (англ. The Etheric Plane или Etheric Double) в теософии и родственных эзотерических школах является самым тонким подуровнем Физического Плана, действующим как мост между плотной материей и высшими, более тонкими сферами. Он не существует отдельно, а проникает и окружает всю физическую материю, служа ей энергетической матрицей, то есть «близнецом». Этот План состоит из эфирной материи, более тонкой, чем газ, но всё ещё отнесенной к физической вселенной. Его важнейшая функция – поглощение и распределение жизненной энергии (Праны) из космоса по всему физическому телу. Эфирный План отвечает за витальность, регенерацию клеток и физическое здоровье, а его нарушения или недостаток энергии проявляются непосредственно как физические заболевания.

 

Эфирный План действует как посредник в передаче энергии. Он переносит импульсы с астрального (эмоционального) и ментального (ума) планов в физическое тело, а также передает физические ощущения на высшие планы. Именно свойства Эфирного Тела (или эфирной оболочки) делают возможным сознательное существование и жизнь в физической форме. На этом уровне существует система чакр – главных энергетических центров, которые действуют как «вихри», через которые Прана проникает в тело и распределяется. Эфирный План напрямую связан со всеми физическими ощущениями, поэтому в эзотерической практике его укрепление и очищение являются ключевыми для лучшего здоровья и поддержки духовного роста.

 

Хотя Эфирный План обычно невидим невооруженным глазом, его иногда называют аурой здоровья, и он может быть воспринят исключительно развитым зрением. Эта сфера – это домен всех эмоций, страстей, желаний и сильных вожделений, проникающих физический мир. По этой причине он считается довольно хаотичным уровнем, который легко спутать с реальностью, поскольку эмоциональные энергии здесь очень интенсивны и способны создавать впечатляющие, но иллюзорные видения и переживания. Именно на Астральном Плане происходит большинство снов и видений, а его вибрации тесно связаны с человеческими чувствами и моментальными реакциями на окружающую среду.

 

Выражением человеческого сознания на этом уровне является Астральное Тело (или Эмоциональная Оболочка). Это тело напрямую отвечает за всю эмоциональную природу человека, включая как деструктивные эмоции (страх, гнев, зависть), так и позитивные, но всё ещё связанные с привязанностью (личная любовь, радость). После физической смерти душа попадает на Астральный План, где происходит эмоциональное очищение, называемое вторым этапом смерти. В этом процессе земные желания и страсти остаются в Астральной материи, чтобы душа, становясь легче, могла продолжить восхождение к более спокойным и духовно высшим Планам – Ментальному и Каузальному.

 

Из-за своей вибрационной природы Астральный План служит уровнем передачи, через который мыслеформы с Ментального Плана приобретают эмоциональный заряд, который затем передается физическому телу через Эфирный План. Астральная проекция – это явление, когда сознание, вместе с Астральным Телом, временно покидает физическое тело, чтобы путешествовать в этом мире эмоций. Следует отметить, что материя Астрального Плана не вечна; эмоциональная оболочка создается для каждой инкарнации и распадается через некоторое время после физической смерти, после завершения своей работы по очищению от эмоциональных привязанностей.

 

4. Ментальный План и Ментальное Тело

 

Ментальный План, согласно теософской космологии, является третьим, тонким уровнем, расположенным над Физическим и Астральным Планами, действуя как сфера ума и идей. Это измерение мыслительной субстанции, которое проникает физический мир и отвечает за все интеллектуальные процессы – логику, анализ, планирование, обучение и память. Он значительно тоньше астральной сферы, управляющей эмоциями, и связан как с конкретными, так и с абстрактными мыслями. Ввиду своей природы он традиционно делится на два подуровня: низший ментальный уровень, где действует повседневный, логический ум, и высший уровень, часто называемый Каузальным Планом, где обрабатываются высшие, более абстрактные идеи, связанные с кармическим наследием души.

 

Соответствием человека на этом уровне является Ментальное Тело (или оболочка), которое функционирует как генератор мыслей и инструмент мышления. Именно Ментальное Тело позволяет нам создавать сложные мыслеформы и систематизировать накопленные знания. Оно постоянно активно и, особенно на низшем уровне, тесно связано с эмоциональным Астральным Телом, поэтому повседневное мышление часто окрашено эмоциями и желаниями. Во время эволюции души стремятся очистить это тело, поднявшись на высший, Каузальный уровень. Эта трансформация позволяет оторваться от личных и эгоистических идей, и вместо этого достичь объективного, универсального знания и абстрактных, чистых истин.

 

Ментальный План является ключевым механизмом в процессе эволюции, поскольку через него душа обрабатывает свой опыт и способна делать осознанный выбор, который затем определяет карму. В отличие от эмоций Астрального Плана, которые могут быть хаотичными, энергия Ментального Плана более упорядочена и направлена, создавая фундамент для духовного развития. Высший Ментальный План, действующий как «сокровищница» души (Каузальное Тело), хранит всю накопленную мудрость и уроки многих инкарнаций. Таким образом, этот уровень означает вершину индивидуального интеллекта и является мостом к чистой Интуиции и Будхическому Плану.

 

5. Каузальный (Причинный) План и Каузальное Тело

 

Каузальный План (англ. Causal Plane), в теософской и эзотерической космологии, является четвертым – и первым по-настоящему духовным – уровнем бытия, часто называемым Высшим Ментальным Планом. Эта сфера, названная от слова Causa (причина), является обителью настоящей индивидуальной души (Эго), которая существует на протяжении всего цикла реинкарнаций. Именно на этом уровне хранятся все кармические записи – то есть семена и причины всех опытов, которые душа должна будет пережить в будущем на низших уровнях. Каузальный План значительно тоньше планов эмоционального (астрального) и логического (низшего ментального), и его функция – обработка универсальных, абстрактных истин и интуитивных прозрений, которые не зависят от изменчивости материального мира или личных эмоций.

 

Соответствием человеческого сознания на этом уровне является Каузальное Тело (англ. Causal Body). Это бессмертная оболочка души, которая становится всё более сияющей и развитой по мере продвижения души по пути эволюции. В отличие от низших оболочек (физической, эфирной, астральной и низшей ментальной), которые распадаются после каждой физической смерти, Каузальное Тело остается. Оно действует как «принцип духовного семени» или регистр индивидуальности, накапливающий все положительные качества, любовь, мудрость и духовные уроки, приобретенные на протяжении многих жизней.

 

При достижении этого уровня через глубокую медитацию или духовную работу индивидуум испытывает чувство истинной внутренней идентичности, воспринимая себя не как смертную личность, а как эволюционирующую душу, участвующую в великом эволюционном процессе. Каузальное Тело служит средством передачи, которое переносит волю и цели Высших Планов (Будхического, Атмического) на Ментальный План и ниже. Это ключевой инструмент эволюции, конечной целью которого является стать сосудом света, полное очищение кармы и соединение с еще более высокой, Будхической (Интуитивной) сферой бытия.

 

6. Будхический План и Будхическое Тело

 

Будхический План (англ. Buddhi Plane), также известный как План Интуиции, является пятым по тонкости уровнем в теософской космологии, расположенным над Каузальным Планом (Высшим Ментальным). Этот План представляет чистую интуицию, духовную мудрость и универсальную любовь, превосходящие любое логическое мышление или эмоциональные привязанности. Это сфера, в которой душа начинает постигать сущностное единство всех форм жизни и целостность всего существования, а различия, которые кажутся столь осязаемыми на низших планах, полностью исчезают. Будхический План является прямым мостом к высшему Духовному Бытию и является одним из тех состояний сознания, в которых можно испытать проявление Божественности.

 

Соответствием человека на этом уровне является Будхическое Тело (англ. Buddhic Body). Оно необычайно тонкое, сияющее и неопределимое. Будхическое Тело – это тот элемент духовной оболочки, который позволяет душе переживать высшее блаженство (Ананда) и чистую, безусловную любовь. Это душа, освобожденная от ограничений эго, где индивидуальность (Каузальный уровень) соединяется с универсальностью. Будхическое Тело действует как приемник интуиции, способный к мгновенному восприятию Истины без процесса мышления, требуемого на Ментальном Плане.

 

В ходе духовной эволюции полностью развитое Будхическое Тело символизирует достижение прозрения и полноты мудрости, позволяя душе руководить другими. Когда душа полностью объединяет Каузальный и Будхический Планы, она становится известна как Монада – проявление Божественного Духа. Полное достижение Будхического Тела означает освобождение (Мокша) от цикла реинкарнаций. Хотя этот уровень практически недостижим для обычного человека, он является конечной целью Духовного Путешествия, предназначенной для всех, кто стремится к единству с Божественным Сознанием.

 

7. Атмический План и Атмическое Тело

 

Атмический План (англ. Atmic Plane), также называемый Планом Духа, является шестым, исключительно тонким и высоким уровнем в теософской иерархии, расположенным непосредственно над Будхическим Планом (Интуиции). Этот уровень представляет Божественную Волю и высший Дух (Атман) – индивидуализированную искру Божественности, которая является сущностью каждого живого существа. Атмический План вечен и неизменен, отражая абсолютное спокойствие Бытия и чистое, недуалистическое сознание.

 

На этом уровне индивидуальный аспект, Атмическое Тело (англ. Atmic Body), является чистейшим проявлением воли и духовной мощи. Это не тело в традиционном смысле, а, скорее, оболочка чистого Духа, предназначенная для выражения Божественной воли и цели. Когда душа полностью соединяется с Будхическим Планом, она достигает свойств Атмического Плана – абсолютной свободы и Божественной независимости от ограничений низших уровней. Атмическое Тело, действуя в сочетании с Будхическим Телом, формирует Монаду – бессмертную Троицу Духа-Души, которая является истинной идентичностью человека.

 

Атмический План – это окончательный уровень индивидуального развития, перед переходом к Плану Логоса (Монадическому), уровню универсального Бытия. Духовная эволюция достигает своего пика, когда сознание полностью овладевает Атмическим Планом, становясь активной опорой Божественной Воли во вселенной. На этом уровне больше нет личной воли, а есть только реализация Божественной Цели. Это высшее состояние, которого индивидуальное сознание может достичь в цикле инкарнаций.
