jo gerbėjai tikriausiai jo klausosi net šiandien. Kanadiečių dainininkas savo
solo karjerą pradėjo 1980 m. ir per savo karjerą išleido 14 albumų. Daina „Summer
of ‚69“ pasirodė ketvirtajame atlikėjo albume „Reckless“ (1984) ir kaip
singlas debiutavo 1985 metais. Pasaulyje daina sulaukė vidutiniškos sėkmės,
Britanijoje jis tapo platininiu, o įvairių šalių topuose pasiekė įvairius
reitingus, tačiau niekur netapo numeriu vienas. Amerikiečių Billboard pasiekė aukščiausią pozicija –
penktąją.

pasakoja apie tą vasarą, kada po mokyklos prasideda kitas gyvenimas ir daugelis
žmonių pasuka skirtingais gyvenimo keliais, todėl viskas pasikeičia. Sentimentali,
bet vykusi daina sulaukė neblogų muzikos kritikų atsiliepimų. Anot kai kurių,
tai amerikiečių gyvenimą atliepianti daina, kuri nepriklausomai nuo tuometinės
reklaminės kampanijos, gyvena savo atskirą gyvenimą, todėl išlieka iki šių
dienų klausoma ir populiari. Dainą lietuviškai yra įrašęs Marijonas
Mikutavičius su tuokart Arūno Valinsko „Kelias į žvaigždes“ dalyviais, kurie
šiandien sulaukia vis didesnės kritikos už svetimų kūrinių naudojimą.
