Apie legendinę atlikėją Janis Joplin (1943-1970) iki šiol sklando įvairiausi gandai. Ji priklauso kaip Amy Winehouse ir kiti garsūs atlikėjai, kuriuos mirtis pasiglemžė sulaukus 27-erių metų. Žinoma, dėl alkoholio ir narkotikų. Apie šią puikią bliuzo atlikėją kalbama, kad ji buvo itin ryški skandalistė, girta dulkindavosi su kuo tik papuola, nuolat baisiausiai keikdavosi ir t. t., tačiau niekas nepaneigs, kad ji turi fantastiška bliuzui skirtą balsą.

Šiandien noriu pristatyti jos bene garsiausią dainą „Piece of my heart“ (liet. Dalelė mano širdies), kuri tapo tikra bliuzo legenda. Iš tikrųjų šią J. Joplin dainą įrašė kartu su bliuzo grupe „Big Brother and the Holding Company“ 1968 metais, likus keleriems metams iki atlikėjos mirties. Pirmoji šios dainos versija priklauso atlikėjai Erma Franklin, kuri kūrinį įrašė 1967 metais. Vėliau taip pat atsirado įvairių atlikėjų, kurie šią dainą perdainavo įvairiais stiliais, tačiau, manding, nei originalas, nei kitų atlikėjų versijos „neveža“ taip, kaip tai padarė Janis Joplin. 

Tiesa, besikrapštydamas po internetą, aptikau jau šiuolaikinės bliuzo atlikėjos Melissa Etheridge dainos versiją, kuri praktiškai labai panašiai atlieka šią dainą – pilnu bliuzišku vokalu ir, pamaniau, kad šioji versija tokia pat gera, kaip ir J.
