Daug  kam netikėta buvo Lady Gagos sugrįžimas su paprastomis į super populiariausius hitų topus nebepretenduojančia muzika. Ir taip, kaip niekada nuoga, kaip niekada atsivėrusi ir atsinaujinusi atlikėja 2016 metais pristatė savo albumą pavadintą savo mirusios giminaitės vardu „Joanne“.

Albumas susilaukė sėkmės, nors ir nebepasiekė tokių masinių pirkimų kaip ankstesnieji Lady Gagos albumai. Antrasis singlas iš šio albumo „Million reasons“ aiški nuoroda į nepavykusius atlikėjus santykius su buvusiu vaikinu. Daina kaip niekad „paprasta“, pritariama akustinės gitaros garsų netgi šiek tiek dvelkia country muzika, gal net kiek senamadiškai, tačiau ne novatoriškumas šįkart dainos sėkmė, o atlikėjos išpažinties tembras. Pačiai atlikėjai (bent jau kiek galia susidaryti nuomonę iš dokumentinio filmo) ši daina labai daug ką reiškia.
